Overview

Despite overdevelopment in the eastern part of the Island, Sidemen has not been changing so much with beautiful landscape and overshadowed by sacred Gunung Agung. The small villages are surrounded by rice fields and agricultural land while people still tend to their fields, prepare ceremonies at the temples and head to the rivers for a bath. For nature lover, Sidemen is perfect gateway. Sidemen is a perfect place to hike to the summit of the volcano Agung, hiking and do cultural site in East Bali. A unique experience far from the mass tourism.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

On arrival Bali International Airport , meeting service and drive direct to Sidemen. overnight at Dharmada Eco Resort

Day 2 : Sidemen

Day is at leisure on your own activities. The Darmada eco-resort is situated on the ridge of the river Unda in Sidemen Valley. Darmada was created to preserve nature and a holy spring. Darmada is a unique eco-resort offering only 7 rooms on 1,5 hectare of gorgeous natural land with a spring fed swimming pool and an open air dining space with spectacular views of the river and mountains. The design of the rooms brings together Old Dutch and Balinese elements. Each room has either a king size or 2 single beds with mosquito nets. The bathroom is half open and has a hot water shower. All rooms have gorgeous handmade cement tiles. Relax and enjoy the stunning views from both the front and the back terrace. Warung Melita, the dining space is serving healthy local and western food.

Day 3 : Visit local villages, walk through rice field, village temple

After breakfast trekking with Mangku - a local guide who was born and grown up in Sidemen. He will take you to visit local villages, walk through rice field, village temple. At the end of trekking you will have lunch at the local restaurant with beautiful view over the rice filed.

Day 4 : Cooking Class

Breakfast at the hotel. Afternoon Cooking Class. Together with hotels chef you will learn different kind of Balinese ingredient and dishes. Through the demonstration and hand on experiences, you will prepare, involve on food production including platting on food presentation.

Day 5 : Yoga Class

After breakfast visit Social Impakt. Social Impakt is a company whose helping local people in Sidemen to get access to clean water. Sidemen is a beautiful village and rich with nature resources however the living conditions is quite poor. Most of them working as a farmer with very small income and doesn't have access to clean water. To take a bath they need to go to the river close by ,beside that they need to buy water on a bottle and cook them which is time consuming and of course it's unfriendly for environments due to plastic. Navasa Water filter that Social Impakt working with, its five times cheaper than boiling water and thirty times cheaper buying bottled water. Thank to the ceramic and charcoal filter it's possible to use any water such as rainwater, tap water and river water. The filter cleans all bacteria and chemicals and lasts for about two years before needs to be replaced.
